A Garden In Progress
Theses photos are from various gardens we have visited which have inspired our design and vision for our garden.

Using low growing ground covers such as sedum, thyme and moss combined with a few larger accent plants, shrubs and evergreens we hope to emulate a semi-oriental rock garden design. We plan to use rocks, stones, sculpture and artwork as elements of the garden.
A stone obelisk like this would be a nice feature in our garden.
Elevated areas with ground cover spilling over rocks are part of the plan.
This is a beautifully designed garden. The features are strong with a lot of plants packed into a small space without being over crowded. It is very well manicured and yet seems very natural.
Strongly defined shapes like the irises, bushes and sculpted evergreens provide focal points in this garden. We like the concept of a path that winds through the garden and allows for close inspection and contemplation of individual plants.
A feature like a Japanese Dwarf Maple or this unusual weeping pea tree is something we would like to add to our garden.
Color, texture and contrast help to create an interesting composition for the garden. Hopefully we can achieve this without ending up with a cluttered arrangement.

This area is packed with plants of varying color and texture yet does not seem overcrowded or haphazard in it’s arrangement. The large stone helps to add a focal point.
This is an example of a wabi, a stone with a weathered depression to hold water. We hope to add a feature like this.
Ordinary objects can be employed to add interest and whimsy.
Rocks, sculpture, found objects and items that might have ended up in a landfill create a unique structure and imaginative look to this garden.
The photos above and to the right are good examples of using low growing ground cover, especially sedums and thyme, accented with a few larger plants, rocks and shrubs.
This is a nice arrangement of rocks and ground cover.
