I was asked to write up something about the canvases in this section. I haven’t seen them collected together like this before. There are a few pieces still missing. But, for the most part, this is a pretty complete body of paintings on canvas that I did over a 10-year period. Some are in private collections, some are in storage, and most are not for sale.
I continue to make art, but use other mediums. When I paint now, I paint digitally. It’s easier to store digital paintings.
Whether canvas or digital, the work has always been and continues to be about mark-making. I have investigated subtleties of light and shadow, chroma effects, non-traditional mediums.... Well, I believe the canvases speak for themselves.
If it wasn’t for my painting and drawing instructor/mentor, Sharon Mendola, I probably would have been kicked out of art school long ago and would now be making macrame planter hangers for craft fairs. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.) Namaste, Sharon.
